Design Tools That Offer Student Discounts in 2019

Being a student is hard. You likely have little time to focus on anything else but school — let alone have time for a job. Anything that saves you that extra coin is worth knowing about, especially if it includes software you're going to be using every day during your design program.

Luckily, many of the greatest design software and portfolio builders offer student discounts for when you're a little tight on cash during the time you're enrolled in a post-secondary institution.

I've compiled a li s t of the amazing student discounts I've come across during and after I've graduated post-secondary, and hope they could be of use to all of the students out there wanting to save an extra buck (who doesn't?!) on some of the most popular software you will be using or could be using to help you along your academic journey.

Here we go, lets check 'em out!

Figma

If your design program is using Figma, or you're just wanting to try out all the different design tools out there to see what works best for you — Figma offers a great deal for students. You can enjoy a Figma Pro License COMPLETELY FREE, so long as you're enrolled in a design focused degree or diploma. The Pro License is $12 USD/mo (billed annually) or $15 USD/mo billed monthly, so this is a pretty awesome deal for students.

Sketch

This industry leading design tool offers students 50% off for a lifetime license.

All you need is:

ID card issued by your institution with a visible expiration date
Enrollment documents for the current academic year
Valid receipt (must contain the student name, date/duration of the course and the name of the academic institution)

Adobe Creative Cloud

During your design studies, Adobe Creative Cloud is probably going to be your most used tool. Luckily, Adobe offers 60% off for students for access to the entire creative suite.

Adobe Creative Cloud is regularly $29.99 USD/mo, but the student discount offers it at $19.99 USD/mo for the 1st year. With this membership, you have access to some of the most used design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, InDesign — and all of the other creative apps.

Adobe just needs to check your student eligibility then you're all in 😎

Webflow

As a Designer, you're going to need a portfolio website to showcase all of your great work and the things you learned while you were in school. Webflow is an insanely powerful website builder where you can build completely custom sites with creative freedom — and it's the perfect option for your portfolio website. This might be a little confusing to use at first, but if you have a little knowledge of HTML/CSS you will pick it up in no time. There's also tons of free resources on Webflow University where you can learn how to use it. If you're looking for a place to build your website with no code and complete design freedom— this is an excellent option.

Webflow offers 50% off a CMS site plan for 1 year. The CMS site plan allows you to create a database of your portfolio projects on your website where you can add, edit, and delete them easily. Something the basic site plan wouldn't offer.

Squarespace

Squarespace is one of the most popular site-builders out there for people's UX/UI portfolio websites. It's simple, easy to manage, fast, and beautiful. I would recommend this option if you want your portfolio to be mostly focused on content and aren't too worried about fully designing a website from scratch.

And I think that's it! These are the design tools/software I've come across that offer awesome discounts for students — but there might be more out there.
